About us | Uncoated Magazine

Uncoated is a cutting-edge design magazine and the new voice of israeli design, aiming to expose fascinating artists and creators, discover niche spheres of creativity, and blurs the boundaries between design, art, animation, and illustration.

Uncoated Magazine was launched at September 2018, by Tal Solomon Vardy and Haim Shushan, as a platform for creators and design students who constantly fuel the global and local incessant art and design scene, but don’t always get the proper coverage and credit for it. We do not stop at articles, but believe in interesting collaborations and live lectures in the actual physical world (fuck you Zoom!). It’s more fun, and a lot more inspirational and productive.

Tal Solomon Vardy

Uncoated's Chief Editor and Co-Founder. Product Designer who likes to dig through record stores, take analog photos, and share interesting stories.

Doreen Shwartzman

Animation director, writer, and illustrator who graduated from Bezalel. Currently living in London, trying not to get wet.

Shira Seri Levi

Illustrator and animator from Jerusalem, currently based in Brooklyn. Additionally to her clients' work, she is currently teaching animation at Tisch School of the Arts and working on her first comic book.

Noga Cohen

Artist and Educator living in New York City. Sculptor, installation artist, photographer, mixed media artist, and writer.

Noam Ohana

New York-based graphic designer who graduated from Shenkar College.

Haim Shushan

Co-founder of Uncoated. Preserves ancient books and papers by binding them. Studio Capitals owner. In January 2020, he retired from the magazine.

Liran Hadashi

Yoga, wine, the sea, gray and pickled cucumbers are some of her favorite things. Tal and Aviad taught her the rest of what she knows about life after she graduated from Minshar visual communication. Gets inspiration from the kibbutz archives of Mishmar Ha'emek to design interesting texts.

Jenny Schukin

Graphic designer and illustrator. Hoarder of creative materials and printing materials. Her drawer is full of writing.

Yuval Albag

Graduated from the Department of Visual Communication at Bezalel, illustrator, designer, and writer, not necessarily in that order. I am a visual person by nature and like to deal with the formal and the real, but it is the content that dictates my path. To me, research, testing, and learning are the most enjoyable aspects of my job, and I strive at the end of the day to convey the information to others as effectively as possible.

Dar Moussafir

Journalist, Artist, Programmer, and dance student. Her responsibilities included public relations for Ohad Naharin and Beth Sheva, the Petah Tikva Museum, Beit Bialik, the Diver Festival, and Musrara.

Ayala Berger

Graduate of Bezalel's photography department, she writes and creates documentaries.
